My name is Alyssa Williamson, I am the owner and barber of Williamson Barbering located on the near east side in the Williamson/Marquette neighborhood. I’ve been living in Madison for about 15 years now, and have lived on the east side for most of that time. This place is home. I am proud to work and own a business in a neighborhood that I believe to be the heart of a lot of creativity in Madison!

I have been doing hair since 2011, and accomplished a huge goal of mine by heading out on my own and becoming an independent business owner in 2017. I started out doing it all, but two years in I was working at a salon where I worked alongside an accomplished barber who happened to be a woman. I had always been more passionate about haircutting and particularly men’s haircutting. I knew it was maybe breaking the “normal”, being a female barber in a male dominated business, but she was doing it. Skill isn’t defined by gender, and in that moment I made the choice to switch gears in my career, and here I am, loving every minute of it.

When it comes to my job, it isn’t just about putting out the best haircuts I can. I invest in my clients. I appreciate the opportunity to get to know them, their interests, and their lifestyle. It gives me insight into giving the right haircut that fits them. That may be the tight fade that comes in every month or the laid back, low maintenance haircut that grows out well. I have built honest friendships with clients who have been with me for years or just a few haircuts. Come hang, have a beer, and get a haircut that leaves you feeling good!
